This application (hereinafter referred to as "the App") is operated by the "Cloud Identifier" App Development Team (hereinafter referred to as "the Team"). This policy sets forth the handling of user data, including personal information, of all users (hereinafter referred to as "Users") who use the App. Please review this policy carefully so that you can use the App with confidence.
The App provides a feature to identify cloud types using the camera or photos from the gallery. In order to identify a cloud and display information such as the genus and species under the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) classification, ranked alternative candidates with confidence scores, the visual reasoning behind the classification, the weather typically associated with the cloud, photography tips, and background notes, image data captured by the camera or selected from the gallery is transmitted to our server and processed by the following external service:
In addition, when an identification is saved to your history, a reduced-size thumbnail of the image and the identification result are stored on our external storage service (Supabase). The original full-resolution image is not stored. Please avoid including personal or sensitive information (such as people's faces or documents containing personal data) in the images you capture or upload.
You can delete a saved identification, together with its stored thumbnail, at any time by swiping the entry in the History screen of the App and confirming the deletion.
The App creates an anonymous account automatically on first launch so that your identification history can be associated with your device. This identifier is a randomly generated value. The App does not ask for, collect, or store an email address, a password, a name, or any other information that directly identifies you.
The App requires a paid subscription. All payments are processed by Apple through your Apple ID account, or by Google through your Google Play account, depending on the platform you use. The Team does not collect or store your credit card number or other payment details; the Team may receive only limited, non-identifying transaction information (such as subscription status) necessary to provide the service. Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, which receives a randomly generated identifier and the purchase information provided by the platform.
Examples: IP address, device type, OS information, date and time of use, access history, operation history, etc. This information is used to identify and resolve issues and to ensure stable operation of the App.
Examples: inquiries and survey responses voluntarily submitted by Users. This information is used for user support and service improvement.
The Team uses User information for the following purposes in operating the App.
As a general rule, the Team will not provide User information to third parties without the User's consent. However, personal information may be disclosed in any of the following cases:
Separately from the above, in order to provide the App's core features, the App shares certain data, including image data, with the external service providers described in "4. Use of External Services" below (for example, OpenAI for cloud identification, and Supabase for authentication and storage). These providers process such data as necessary to provide their services.
The App uses the following external services for service operation and quality improvement.
The Team retains Users' personal information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes of use, and will promptly delete or appropriately process such information once the retention period has ended.
Users may delete stored data themselves at any time. Deleting an entry from the History screen of the App removes both the identification result and its stored thumbnail. If you wish to have all data associated with your anonymous account deleted, please contact us using the address in section 6.
The Team also implements appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access, loss, destruction, alteration, and leakage. All communication between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit.
