This application (hereinafter referred to as "the App") is operated by the "Silver Hallmark Identifier" App Development Team (hereinafter referred to as "the Team"). This policy sets forth the handling of user data, including personal information, of all users (hereinafter referred to as "Users") who use the App. Please review this policy carefully so that you can use the App with confidence.
The App provides a feature to identify silver hallmarks and the pieces they are stamped on, using a close-up photo of the hallmark and, optionally, a photo of the whole object, taken with the camera or selected from the gallery. In order to identify the piece and display information such as the piece name, ranked alternative candidates with confidence scores, the visual reasoning behind the identification, the likely silver standard, maker's mark, assay office, date letter or era, region of origin, object type, an estimated resale value range, care and display tips, photography tips, and background notes, the image data is transmitted to our server and processed by the following external services:
Each identification is saved to your collection automatically. Reduced-size thumbnails (up to 384 pixels on the longest side) of the close-up photo and, if provided, the whole-object photo, together with the identification result, are stored on our external storage service (Firebase). The original full-resolution images are not stored. Please avoid including personal or sensitive information (such as people's faces or documents containing personal data) in the images you capture or upload.
You can delete a saved identification, together with its stored thumbnails, at any time by swiping the entry in the Collection screen of the App and choosing Delete.
The Team accesses stored thumbnails and identification results only when necessary to investigate a problem with the App, to respond to your inquiry, or to prevent misuse of the App.
The App creates an anonymous account automatically on first launch so that your identification history can be associated with your device. This identifier is a randomly generated value. The App does not ask for, collect, or store an email address, a password, a name, or any other information that directly identifies you.
The App requires a paid subscription. All payments are processed by Apple through your Apple ID account, or by Google through your Google Play account, depending on the platform you use. The Team does not collect or store your credit card number or other payment details; the Team may receive only limited, non-identifying transaction information (such as subscription status) necessary to provide the service. Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, which receives a randomly generated identifier and the purchase information provided by the platform. This data does not directly identify you.
To apply the daily limit on the number of identifications, the number of identifications you make each day is recorded together with your anonymous account identifier. In addition, our servers and the service providers listed in section 4 automatically record technical information such as IP address, device type, OS information, and the date and time of access, which is used to operate the App securely and to identify and resolve problems. The App does not use third-party analytics tools, does not display ads, and does not use an advertising identifier.
Examples: inquiries and survey responses voluntarily submitted by Users. This information is used for user support and service improvement.
The Team uses User information for the following purposes in operating the App.
As a general rule, the Team will not provide User information to third parties without the User's consent. However, personal information may be disclosed in any of the following cases:
Separately from the above, in order to provide the App's core features, the App shares certain data, including image data, with the external service providers described in "4. Use of External Services" below (for example, OpenAI for identification, eBay for finding similar listings, and Firebase for authentication and storage). These providers process such data as necessary to provide their services, in accordance with their own privacy policies.
The App uses the following external services for service operation and quality improvement. These services may process data on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States.
The Team retains Users' personal information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes of use, and will promptly delete or appropriately process such information once the retention period has ended.
Users may delete stored data themselves at any time. Deleting an entry from the Collection screen of the App removes both the identification result and its stored thumbnails. If you wish to have all data associated with your anonymous account deleted, please contact us using the address in section 6.
The Team also implements appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access, loss, destruction, alteration, and leakage. All communication between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit.
