Subscription and billing
Do I need a subscription?
Yes. Quint needs an active subscription to start a session. There is no free tier. Before the subscription screen appears, Quint shows you the first real step of a plan so you can see what you're getting. The yearly plan opens with a free trial; the weekly plan does not.
How do I cancel?
Cancelling is done in your Apple ID settings, not inside Quint — Apple handles the billing, so only Apple can stop it. On your iPhone:
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Tap Quint, then Cancel Subscription
Cancelling during the free trial costs nothing. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends and you will not be charged. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
I paid, but the app still asks me to subscribe
Open You and tap Restore purchases. This re-checks your Apple ID and is the fix in almost every case, especially on a new phone or after reinstalling. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with. If it still does not come back, email us.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled entirely by Apple, not by us — we never see your payment details and cannot issue one. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
The five minutes
Why only five minutes?
Because the hard part is starting, not finishing. Five minutes is short enough to say yes to, and once the timer is running most spots take less time than they felt like they would. When the time is up, Quint tells you that you can stop — and means it. If you've got five more in you, you can add them.
I stopped halfway. Did I fail?
No. When you tap Stop here, Quint shows you just the last "closing" step (put things back, gloves off) so the spot is left tidy, and then counts the session as done. "Not today" on a single step works the same way — it just moves on. There are no streaks to break and no red badges. The tile just shows when you last did it and how long it took.
What does "Make it smaller" do?
It splits the step you are looking at into two or three smaller ones. If "wipe the counter" is too much, it becomes "move the two mugs", then "wipe the left half". There is no judgment attached — smaller is smaller.
The tiles look faded. Is that a warning?
No. A tile slowly loses colour as days pass since you last cleaned that spot, and clears again when you finish a session. It's information, not a nag: Quint never sends notifications and never tells you it's "time to clean".
Plans and steps
The steps don't fit my home
Open You → Edit your home and check the answers — dishwasher, garbage disposal, tub or shower, floors, pets, laundry. The steps are written from those settings, so a wrong answer produces a wrong step (for example a dishwasher step when you don't have one).
It said it couldn't make a plan
Plans for the built-in spots are stored inside the app and always work, even offline. Plans for something you typed yourself need a connection to be written. If that fails, nothing is deducted from your daily allowance — just try again in a moment, or pick a built-in spot.
Can I add my own spots?
Yes. Tap Give it 5 minutes and choose Something else…, open All spots and tap Add a spot of your own, or type into the box on the home screen. Describe it the way you'd say it to a friend ("the pile on the chair") and Quint writes a five-minute plan for it. It stays as a tile under Your spots; hold it to rename or remove it.
Can I change which spots are on the home screen?
Yes. Hold any tile — on the home screen or under All spots — and choose Add to home or Remove from home. There's no limit, and your own spots can go there too. The last tile can't be removed.
Is there a limit?
Twenty generated plans (including "Make it smaller" splits) per day. Built-in spots don't count, and neither does a plan you've already made — those are saved and reused.
Safety
Please read this before following any step
Quint writes short, general steps. It cannot see your home and does not know which products or appliances you own, so it cannot tell you whether a product or a method is safe for your surfaces, your plumbing or your health.
Always follow the label on every product you use. Never mix cleaning chemicals. Unplug appliances before cleaning them, keep products away from children and pets, and treat the timer as a way to get started — not as a reason to hurry or to leave something in an unsafe state.
Your data
Where do my "after" photos go?
Nowhere. They are saved inside the app on your phone and are never uploaded. Quint uses the camera only for that photo and never reads your photo library. To see them, hold a spot's tile and choose Photos; the finish screen also shows last time's photo next to today's. Deleting the app deletes them.
What do you know about me?
Very little, and none of it identifies you. Quint never asks for your name, email address or phone number, and it does not use your location. What is stored is your home settings, when you last cleaned each spot and how long it took, and the plans written for you, under an anonymous identifier created on your device. Text you type to describe a spot is sent to OpenAI to write the steps, and nothing else leaves the app. The Privacy Policy lists it all.
Delete my data
Deleting the app removes the photos and puts the stored data out of reach. If you want it erased from our side as well, email us from any address and we will identify the record with you and remove it, normally within 30 days.
Still stuck?
Email us and we will reply. It is a small team, so please allow a couple of days. Telling us your device, your iOS version and what you were doing when it went wrong gets it fixed much faster.
